Boomy or missing bass
Some notes overwhelm the music. Others disappear at your seat. Your subwoofer never quite blends in.
Get clearer, more balanced sound from the stereo you already own. We listen, measure, and fine-tune speaker placement, bass, and system settings in your home, then compare the results with music you know.
Serving all five NYC boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester.
We’ll review your setup and agree on the work before you book.
You don’t need to decide whether it’s the system or the room. We assess both together and make the changes that matter.
Some notes overwhelm the music. Others disappear at your seat. Your subwoofer never quite blends in.
Vocals drift to one side, instruments blur together, or the sound seems stuck at the speakers.
You turn the volume down or stop listening, even though you love the music.
You’ve run room correction and tried the controls, but you’re still not satisfied with the sound.
A hands-on visit to tune your stereo as a complete system: speakers, bass, settings, and the room you listen in.
One room · two main speakers · up to one subwoofer · one main listening position · up to 4 hours in your home. For stereo systems that are already connected and working.
Two examples of what changes when the speakers, settings, and room work better together.
These JBL studio monitors had been with their owner for 30 years, but muddy bass was getting in the way. We repositioned the speakers and used measurements to guide the EQ, bringing clearer, more balanced sound from the same system.
We moved this Legacy Audio Whisper system from the short wall to the long wall, then refined speaker placement. The owner heard an immediate improvement: a deeper soundstage, better separation, and instruments that were easier to place.
Our partnership began in recording and audio production. We went on to design, build, and run our own recording studio for 15 years. Along the way, we mixed live shows, calibrated venue systems, and helped people get more from their stereos at home.
Room / Tone brings that experience into your home, with time to listen together, work through the details, and get more from the system you already own.

$895 Audio + Room Diagnostic
One room · up to 2 hours in your home
Some systems need an in-home investigation before we can recommend the work. The Audio + Room Diagnostic gives you measured findings and a written plan with prioritized recommendations. We’ll advise whether to start here or go straight to optimization.
We listen, take focused measurements, test a practical improvement, and make simple, reversible adjustments. Your written plan sets out the priorities, tradeoffs, and next steps. Full optimization is a separate service. The plan is yours to carry out yourself or with any provider.
A clear record of your final positions, settings, and day-to-day controls, so you can use the system confidently after we leave.
What improved and any remaining limitations.
Automatic room correction is one part of the setup. We also work on speaker placement, your listening position, and subwoofer integration, then fine-tune the correction settings. We listen with you and measure the changes.
Yes. We can make bass the priority. The $1,750 visit includes placement and integration of one subwoofer with your main speakers.
We start with the equipment you already own. When we recommend a purchase, we explain what it will improve and why it’s worth considering. We review your setup before booking and will tell you when a different next step makes more sense.
No. You can book optimization directly when we’ve confirmed the work. We recommend the $895 Audio + Room Diagnostic when an in-home investigation is needed to decide what to change. You don’t need to choose between them before contacting us.
The $895 diagnostic is a separate service, with its own written plan. A later optimization appointment is charged separately. When there’s time to complete optimization during the same appointment, and you approve the additional work, you pay $1,750 in total.
Share the equipment model and software you use. We confirm compatibility before booking and explain any additional software purchases in advance.
This service is for stereo systems with two main speakers and up to one subwoofer. Surround sound and systems with two or more subs aren’t included.
We tune for your main listening position and check nearby seats. Sound varies around a room; we’ll explain the tradeoffs between positions.
No. We explain where treatment would improve the sound and quote design, panels, and installation separately. This is room-acoustics work, not soundproofing or neighbor-noise reduction.
Yes. The optimization visit involves no construction. We agree on what can move and account for building rules before the visit.
Tell us about your stereo and what you’d like to improve. We’ll review your equipment, room, and listening goals, then recommend the next step before you book.
